Yenege Tesfa (Hope for Tomorrow) – Gondar, Ethiopia
Yenege Tesfa is a local NGO helping orphans and vulnerable children living on the street in Gondar, northern Ethiopia. Setup by Nigisti in 2001, Yenege Tesfa has two shelters, together providing a happy home for 35 children as well as providing education support for 230+ kids, community education, and fighting the causes of child homelessness.
During our four month stay in Gondar, we spent a lot of time with the kids and local staff, including redesigning and developing the Yenege Tesfa website to assist with international fundraising, 'sorting out' the IT and improving some of the day to day operations.
We also bought a few necessities for the office and DVD players for the shelters; all for under £100.
Yenege Tesfa & Gondar is such a charming place that I plan to stay for the best part of 2011 working on the Home for Tomorrow project. This project, we believe, will see Yenege Tesfa grow to a capacity of around 250 children and have a big impact on the local community.
Work & sponsorship of this life changing NGO goes a long way; with your help and the support of the existing donors, we sincerely hope to make a big change to the lives of children in Gondar, Ethiopia.
